Candee Lee's Soul House: Reviews & Ratings
My wife and I came down on vacation to celebrate our anniversary and we decided when we first got here we wanted to try some true authentic soul food and we found it! Because we our from Pennsylvania and they are a hit and miss up that way. When we tell you from the moment we walked into the restaurant we were greeted with excellent customer service and the music also was a Vibe. We felt right at home! We had a couple of questions about the menu and the young lady was extremely helpful! And her co-worker he also was excellent with helping me on what to decide to get first. The First day I had the fried chicken box with the double baked beans, yams, and macaroni and cheese and my wife had the fried catfish, greens, and coleslaw that was . Then the second time we both had the garlic and herb chicken with grits, macorni salad and cornbread . And there portions and pricing exceeded our expectations. You will not be hungry after leaving there. We have a couple days left and may have to hit them up one more time before we leave. And any other time we come down for vacation we already know they are on our list of dinner spots! And we hope to see the same employees there.
The fried chicken was delicious! Crispy, flavorful, and juicy! The Mac n cheese was good and very cheesy but did have a strong Gouda taste. Overall loved everything. The fried ribs were also very good. The yams were ok.
I don’t know about you guys, but for my family it’s always a time trying to find something to appease everyone when we are on vacation. So if you’re in Orlando, and you’re looking for something good to eat for everybody, don’t walk …RUN … lol I’m a big fan on customer service. Especially working in the healthcare field & the customer service here , both the first time and the second time I walked in was great !!! Which BTW…. What sealed the deal is the first responder discount and yes NURSES we are included!! We ordered three plates. To include the following : Fried chicken, fried ribs, fried catfish, macaroni, baked beans, collard greens, rice, and sweet potatoes. The fish was seasoned!!!. I just needed to have it fried hard and I need a container that will let my fish breathe on my drive home lol The macaroni was good, It could use a little bit more seasoning ( not salt ) but I would definitely order it again. The fried chicken was good, but I think my favorite was the fried rib. I’m not going to lie, I was very hesitant.I’m not from the south so having things that are fried is not my usual go to, but that fried rib and that barbecue sauce was the truth!!! My favorite thing about this restaurant is that it’s all made fresh. So yes, there’s a small wait for about 5 to ten min, but to me it’s better that way !! Out of all of the sides, the sweet potatoes and the beans were my favorite ! I could have just had sweet potatoes and fried Ribs and I would have been all set Nevertheless, this place is the one that will stay on my list whenever we are in town for vacation! I’ve been reading a few of the other reviews and I will say DO NOT LET The negative reviews deter you from trying this amazing food !!! ( I can say more. But that’s all I’m gonna say on that ) Thanks for dinner Candee Lee’s
Food was great. Portions were huge. Well worth the price for good soul-food. My husband said it's the best catfish he's ever had, didn't have any bones in it at all either. Macaroni was perfectly seasoned. Yams are good. I loved the garlic herb baked chicken. Macaroni salad is really, really good. The girl working was fast and friendly. Definitely give this place a try. 10/10 recommend
From the moment we stepped inside, this place left a lasting impression. The rich, mouthwatering aroma of seasoned dishes hit us right away, setting the tone for an incredible meal. The staff welcomed us warmly, and after browsing the menu, a friendly gentleman took our order. He asked if it was our first visit (it was!) and how we discovered the restaurant. When I told him I’d simply searched "soul food near me" and stumbled upon this gem, his face lit up with pride—and after tasting the food, I completely understood why. I ordered the fried chicken wings, mac and cheese, collard greens with turkey neck, and an extra side of fried cabbage (because how could I resist?). Let me tell you—this was the best soul food I’ve had in years. Every bite was perfectly seasoned, cooked to absolute perfection. The mac and cheese was so decadent it had that irresistible cheese pull, and I may or may not have gotten the last scoop from the pan. And the food wasn’t the only standout—the drinks were just as impressive. The fruit punch and sweet tea were spot-on, so delicious that I’d go back just for them. This entire experience was unforgettable. I haven’t stopped thinking about how amazing everything was, and I’ll be raving about this place to anyone who’ll listen. If you’re craving authentic, soul-satisfying comfort food, look no further—this is the place to be.
